The City of Sanford Fire Department is pleased to be part of a state wide program with A Safe Haven for Newborns-Gloria M. Silverio Foundation, which was created in response to the abandonment of newborn infants in the State of Florida.
Any store, restaurant, or building displaying the yellow and black sign shown here, is a “SAFE PLACE”. The Sanford Fire Department is a “SAFE PLACE”. Any kid, boy or girl, any age, can go to any Sanford Fire station, as well as many other fire stations in Seminole County if they need help. Ask someone who works there to help you…we know what to do. Help is free and confidential; in conjunction with Boys Town.
Authorized local Fire Departments will check out your child car seats/child restraints to ensure that they are installed and working properly. Contact your local Fire Department or view our calendar. Then set up an appointment if necessary to have yours checked out.
The Sanford Fire Department will provide and install smoke detectors in your home. These are battery operated smoke detectors and are supplied free of charge to those that request them and can be installed in any home within the City of Sanford or Seminole County. Please complete the Smoke Detector Request Form.

The Sanford Fire Department Community Paramedicine Program exists to assist the City of Sanford Residents with their in-home medical care. The goal of the program is to assess our patients and assist them with their level of knowledge about their condition, medical equipment, medications, doctor’s visits and discharge instructions. The focus of the program is improving health while decreasing dependency on Emergency Medical Services.

Public Education Request
The Sanford Fire Department delivers fire prevention and safety education programs to our community. The focus of the program is to provide information about the services we provide, fire prevention, fire evacuation drills and career training information. Â Our target audience is schools, daycares, homeowners associations and other organizations that could benefit from our safety oriented programs.
