The City Commission approved the following Special Event Permit Request at the 7 pm Commission Meeting on December 13, 2021.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Steering Committee will present the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on Historic Goldsboro Avenue, from Persimmon Avenue to South Holly Avenue, at 10 am and a Festival in Ft. Mellon Park from noon – 4 pm on Monday, January 17, 2022. This family-friendly event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
The applicant requests closure of Persimmon Avenue, from McCracken Road to Historic Goldsboro Boulevard, and Historic Goldsboro Boulevard, from Persimmon Avenue to HWY 17-92, from 7 am – noon for the Parade.
The applicant also requests closure of 1st Street, from Chapman Avenue to San Juan Avenue, and Seminole Boulevard, from Sanford Avenue to San Juan Avenue, from 7 am – 4 pm for the Festival.
