Melissa’s Race to Battle Brain Cancer

The City Commission will be presented with the following Special Event Permit Request at the 7 PM
Commission Meeting on August 23, 2021. If you have any comments that you would like the City

In memory of Melissa Vosburg, a previous teacher at Midway Elementary School, the Melissa’s 5K Race
event has become the largest brain cancer charity 5K in Central Florida. This year, they request to host the 7th Annual Melissa’s Race to Battle Brain Cancer from 7 – 10 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Following the 5K, their event in Ft. Mellon Park offers a variety of food from food trucks, sponsors tents,
vendor tents, and activities for the kids and educational resources for their guests. The applicant has chosen one of Sanford’s three certified and approved 5K Courses and requests street closures from 5 – 11 AM.
